On November 5th I hit a FIRST in 20 years while I served in prayer at the New Haven House of Prayer Garage Sale. My FIRST was that three people in a row all responded “No thank you, I’m fine.” to my question I regularly ask “If there was one thing I could pray for you today, what would it be?” The woman who was my 3rd “NO” walked out the front doors and left!
Now stick with me on this and I am going to share this story in detail as many people have asked me how do I do this pray now thing? I will also insert thoughts the {enemy} will shoot into your mind to stop you from praying, which he did when I had my third “NO” {No one wants to pray with you, just leave now!} Apply James 4:7 and pray this in your mind, “Lord I submit my life to you again right now and resist this spirit of fear and Your Word says he will flee.” I shared the 3 No story with my prayer partner, Sharon and she said “Let’s Pray Now” Sharron prayed a simple prayer that God would open the hearts of the people to desire prayer! An instant answer came and the dear woman who had walked out came back inside with tears rolling down her cheeks. I reached out gently touching her arm and said “You need prayer don’t you?” {You can handle this, just keep her talking} I heard the Holy Spirit nudging my heart, “Trust Me and simply Pray Now.” I asked her name and prayed: “Father, I thank You for bringing Kimberly to us today, Lord You know her every need please comfort her and let her know how much You love her, put Your peace in her heart and help Kimberly to trust You, in Jesus name we pray, Amen.”
As God opened her heart through prayer, I gently asked: “Kimberly, do you understand what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ?” “No, I am not sure.” I sensed the Holy Spirit saying: “Tell her about a BEST FRIEND relationship.” “Do you have a best friend that you can talk to about anything?” She said “Yes” and I said, “Now Jesus would like to be your best friend, He is standing at the door of your life gently knocking to see if you will invite Him in?” I often use Romans 10:9 as a springboard to salvation. “That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” I asked, “Kimberly, do you believe Jesus is the Son of God?” “Yes”. “Do you believe that you are a sinner?” “Oh yes!” After a few more questions and declarations describing our need for repentance, what it means to be saved, the 100% assurance of salvation, being born again I gently asked her, {You’ve said enough you don’t want her to think you are a Bible thumper!} “Kimberly would You like to pray with us right now and ask Jesus to come through the door and into your life?” The peace of God began to fill her face and I asked if Sharon and I could hold her hands while we helped her pray. The Holy Spirit began to fill her heart and the joy of Jesus began to shine from her eyes as she prayed after my leading: “Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today to acknowledge I am a sinner, I turn away and repent from my sinfulness, please save me now, and come into my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior, please fill me with Your Holy Spirit, give me a thirst for Your Word, make me bold to share You with others, help me find a strong church family, thank You Lord for saving me today and I pray this in Jesus name, Amen”
Our Lord Jesus passionately desires you to be a “Match Maker” for Him to His bride.
