đ„IGNITE September 2025
The Backdrop: A Holy Invitation
In these recent weeks, my phone has lit up with texts, emails, and calls from brothers and sisters telling me how God is transforming their lives through the simple joy of “Waiting on God.” And through it, I’ve been sensing revival in the “waiting.” This ancient discipline, penned in 1896 by Andrew Murray, continues to breathe new life into those who dare to slow down and wait before the throne.
A few months ago, I received a note from Pastor Kevin Pierce, Prayer Pastor at Healing Place Church in Waldorf, Maryland. He had “randomly” stumbled across an Audible recording on Waiting on God and then ordered a copy of the bookâour Igniting Prayer Action edition. He reached out, asking about my journey in waiting.
That conversation and prayer grew into friendship. In August, Healing Place Church launched 31 Days of Waiting on God. By the 20th day, they sensed the Spirit calling them to extend through September. I’ve had the joy of joining them on several occasions, sharing stories and encouragement, and I can genuinely say: this Waiting family has become part of ours.
To give you a taste of what God is doing there, I asked Pastor Kevin, Pastor Moe, and one of their elder sisters, Aline, to share their hearts. Here are their reflections:
Revival in the Waiting â Pastor Kevin Pierce
âBehold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.â â Isaiah 25:9 NASB.
At Healing Place Church, God was already stirring revival in our “Upper Zoom” prayer gatherings. We noticed that these times were marked with fervent prayer, honest confession, repentance, and ministry to one another. Then came the call to wait.
Like the dawning of a new day, the Son of Righteousness began meeting us afresh as we waited. Expectancy rose. Unity deepened. Healing touched hearts. And what began as a practice in prayer spilled into every part of ministry. God came near!
Of course, challenges came tooâdistracted thoughts, interruptions, the difficulty of shifting schedules. But within the community, encouragement carried us through. Fathers, mothers, brothers, sistersâeach voice lifted courage against discouragement. Hope overcame despair.
Where will this journey lead us? We don’t yet know. But this we are sure of: it will be God, and it will be good.

Community of Waiting â Pastor Moe Diggs
As Lead Pastor, I had long practiced waiting on God privately. But now, in community, Iâm learning something new: God confirms His voice in us together.
Our prayers are shifting from head-based words to Spirit-led groanings (Romans 8:26â28). Waiting has become an active engagementâreceiving heavenâs view, then praying heaven to earth. Jesus promised:
“But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!”â John 15:7 NLT.
And we are seeing this happenâreal time, real prayers, and real answers.
The Hebrew word for wait (Isaiah 40:31) paints a picture:
- To expect Yahweh’s aid.
- To lie in wait.
- To be gathered together.
- To be bound togetherâlike waters collected in one place (Genesis 1:9).

The Joy of Expectancy â Sister Aline Shenberger
Waiting on God reminds me of a mother-to-be. Growth is happening unseen. Fingers, lungs, sensesâall preparing for life. And like parents awaiting a child, our anticipation grows.
- Growth in the wait:Â “Lord, help us to be patient as You prepare us.”
- Joy in the wait: “Lord, we can hardly wait to see Your gift burst forth!”
- Preparation in the wait: “Lord, make us ready, leaving no room for doubt.”
That is what God is doing with us at HPC. He is binding us together into one standing place. From there, His healing and His hope are flowing, one prayer at a time, one person at a time, waiting is not wasted. It is joyful expectancy. And when the wait is over, the giftâperfectly prepared by the Fatherâ will arrive in His time.
Three voices. One testimony. Revival, community, expectancyâall flowing from the same fountain: Waiting on God!
This waiting is not passive. It’s not inactivity. This waiting revival is the active binding together of hearts with the Lord and with one another, leaning in until His kingdom comes and His will is done on earth as it is in heaven.
“But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” â Isaiah 40:31 ESV.
Friend, where might God be calling you to wait with Him this month?
Take 5 minutes to be still, asking God how to engage your church in waiting on God, and if He would have you make a gift to support our calling of Igniting Prayer Action. â„ïžđ„đ
With you in the joy of waiting,
