🔥IGNITE November 2025
There are friendships God writes, and then there are friendships God forges. They’re hammered on the anvil of prayer, tempered through trials, strengthened through Scripture, and welded together by the Spirit of God for Kingdom purpose. My friendship with Terry is one of those sacred gifts.
We first connected in 2019 through our mutual brother Doug. I had prayed with Doug for four years about his business ventures, partners, investments, and family. Then Doug said, “Colin, you need to meet Terry,” and the three of us stepped into a prayer partnership that had Heaven’s fingerprints all over it!
We prayed, and God moved. There was breakthrough after breakthrough, divine direction, radical business favor, and an IPO of Prometheus Sciences that blew the top off for many. Chkk-Chirrrrrrrrrrrrrr triumphant joy in Jesus!
And out of the fire of prayer, a bond formed — strong, steady, and Spirit-forged.
Last year, my beautiful bride, Nancy, and I flew out to meet Terry in person. What a joy and what a brother! He had become a beloved prayer partner and a faithful supporter of Igniting Prayer Action. His heart beats fast for the Kingdom.
Amongst all this, for 30 years, Terry has been working on a book called Knowing God—a remarkable Scripture-laden study listing the attributes of God and every verse in the Bible that reveals His character. This work became his lifetime offering, a discipleship treasure chest.
But in mid-October 2025, a storm rolled in: A physical struggle and an unexpected medical complication. And then — almost overnight —a suffocating depression settled over him like a cold shadow.
Another long-time praying partner of Terry’s, Clarke Kennedy, was introduced to me.
Clarke and I soon became Terry’s ‘Aaron and Herr,’ praying with him almost every day for six weeks. Clarke’s children would leave heart-rending voice-text prayers for Terry. We felt it clearly: this wasn’t just emotional or medical — it was spiritual warfare! We knew the physical struggle was a direct strike against the release of the ‘Knowing God’ book, because it’s a book that will help multitudes!

Then came the moment when my Sweetheart, Nancy, and I had just prayed with Terry. Nancy looked at me — with the love that has carried us through decades — and said, “You need to GO see Terry!”
And so, early on Tuesday morning, November 4th, I boarded a flight to San Diego. I boarded not out of duty and not out of fear, but out of covenant love, friendship, and Kingdom calling.
I arrived at Terry’s home around 9:30 that Tuesday morning. We spent three hours together. However, he was in a pretty tough condition, mentally, physically, and spiritually. Also, he was scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, which was delayed till Friday. When I arrived to spend the day with him on Thursday, Terry was low, deeply depressed, physically struggling, and emotionally weary. His catheter was failing again, and the weight of it all felt crushing.
TRIUMPH #1 — God Turned A Hospital Prayer Field Into Holy Ground
What happened next? Only God could orchestrate. I told him, “Brother, we’re going to the hospital.” But heaven had more in mind than medical attention.
Hospitals are full of pain — the kind of quiet pain you can feel in the air —and the PRAY NOW lifestyle is made for places like that.
For two and a half hours, Terry and I prayed for nurses coming off long shifts, doctors under enormous strain, hurting patients sitting alone, and a little boy in pain sitting in his mother’s lap. People ALWAYS welcome prayer in hospitals.
And as we prayed for others, something miraculous happened: Terry began to rise. The heaviness started lifting. Isaiah 58:10 leapt off the page and into the hospital room! “If you pour yourself out for the hungry… your gloom shall be as the noonday.”
Sometimes the quickest way out of your own valley is to walk with someone else through theirs.

TRIUMPH #2 — A Night With the Navy SEALs: This would never have happened without Terry’s trial.
That Thursday night, I met with a dear friend, David Charbonnet — a Navy SEAL I’ve known for 15 years.
Fourteen years ago, a parachute malfunction left him paralyzed from the chest down. Yet he has never stopped being a warrior. He leads Bible studies and pours his life into younger SEALs.
He radiates Christ. To my surprise, he invited me to a Navy SEAL chapel gathering on Coronado Island with himself, his son, JP, the Bible study NS Leader, Jeff, twelve hungry Navy SEALs, and the base chaplain.
The atmosphere was electric. These men — trained for earth-shaking missions — were hungry for the Word of God. So, we read Scripture, talked about waiting on God (Isaiah 40:31), listened, prayed, and shared.
By the end, the door opened for sixty copies of Waiting on God to be placed in the hands of SEALs across the base. A trip born from depression became a night of discipleship for elite warriors of this nation.
Only God!
TRIUMPH #3 — A Salvation At 35,000 Feet!

When I boarded my flight home, I prayed it again: “Lord, whoever sits next to me — prepare their heart.”
Enter Matthew — a mergers-and-acquisitions consultant with Ernst & Young in Austin. He’s
- Brilliant
- Driven
- Overworked
- Has catholic roots, but no personal walk with Jesus.
He shared that his marriage is 18 months “new” and already strained by the weight of nonstop work. So, we opened the Waiting on God book at Day 7: “Let integrity and uprightness preserve me…” — Psalm 25:21
As we read, silence settled — the holy kind. God began speaking to him. He saw his lack of rest, a spiritual hunger, and his need for integrity. We talked about Nicodemus in John 3, where Jesus shared about being born again. Also, we read Romans 10:9 — confessing Jesus as Lord. And as we began our descent toward Austin, the Holy Spirit whispered, “Ask him.” And so, I did.
Thankfully, Matthew said yes and confirmed he wanted Jesus, His gift of salvation, and the new life that comes from accepting Jesus. Right there — while the plane lowered through the clouds — he prayed to receive Christ as his Lord and Savior. Then, Heaven erupted (Luke 15:7)! Coming off the flight, we took a selfie at the gate— two men meeting in God’s Divine Appointment were now knit together by grace!
🔥 Is God Calling You to Ignite Hope?
Each time we face our own life trials, we can rest assured that through faith, prayer, and waiting on God, He will always cause us to TRIUMPH!
And we THANK GOD for your faithfulness in continuing to pray and support the mission and call of Igniting Prayer Action. Will you be still for 5 minutes and then ask God if He would have you make a special gift right now?
As you “GIVE THANKS” this Thanksgiving Holiday, may God continue to bless you in your growing prayer life, in Jesus’ name, Amen! Thank you for giving!♥️🔥🙏
Chkk-Chirrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
