IGNITE June 2025

Friend, Are you being intentional about being a Prayer Igniter? When teaching on prayer, I often quote Leonard Ravenhill, who said: “Few are called to preach, but ALL are called to PRAY,🙏🔥including you, dear One!

Let’s Pray Now:

“Oh, Father God in heaven, we thank you for all the children and grandchildren you put in our lives. Please would You pour out Your Spirit of grace and intercession (Zechariah 12:10) in, over, and through our lives into their lives?  Yeah, God! 🙌🥰🙏 We thank You for answering this prayer through the many lives touched by The Well church family these past 9 months. It’s in the matchless name of Our Great Intercessor, Jesus Christ, we pray, amen!”

The Impact of Being Called to Pray

In particular, we want to focus on the two beautiful daughters of the Lewes family— Alani (8) and Adaiah (6).

They attend the Divers’ K-2nd Grade Class in our Kids Church. And since August last year, when we transitioned to two worship services, I’ve had the joy of serving as their lead teacher every Sunday. Demarr and Karla Lewes, with their daughters, also attended one of our Family House Churches, where we hosted 1 of 15 Igniting Prayer dinners.

However, this experience with the Lewes family gets even better!

This was the text that Pastor Chris and I received early the next morning from Demarr:

Good morning, Sir. I just wanted to thank you and Mrs. Nancy for the food last night and for facilitating a wonderful night of meeting together, encouragement, and prayer. My favorite time was, by far, praying together as a family. It sparked something in my family. I shared the story with Chris, so I definitely have to share it with you. Below is what I sent to Chris.

Thank you, Chris. I definitely appreciate it. Your dad came through our house church last night, and The Holy Spirit used him to set a blazing fire in Everyone! Personally, our oldest daughter, Alani (8 yrs.), was so excited after everyone had prayed together that she asked your dad if she could have the book (Waiting on God)! Well, knowing your Pops, you know he hooked her up with several books! LOL!

She was so excited that she started reading it in the car, and well! Karla followed along in her book to help, and then Adaiah wanted to join in and follow along with her copy. Mind you, Chris, Alani struggled to read last year and went to summer school. At that time, the school was considering testing her if she didn’t figure it out. So, this year, she got out of a Spanish Dual Language program to just focus on English, and now she has a new passion— “Reading!”

Ok, back to the story.

So, Karla commented on ice cream while we were at House Church. So, on the way home, I was excited to do a spontaneous “Dad Stop” for some sweets. As I was driving past Krispy Kreme Donuts, the red ‘Hot Donuts’ sign said, “Pull over!” LOL!  So, I came up to the drive-through line, but I was suddenly impressed with the idea that going INSIDE the store was going to be way more enjoyable.

“You’re not just here for some donuts, you will be praying for someone!”

Once we were getting settled inside, the thought came to mind: “You’re not just here for some donuts, but you’ll be praying for someone.” I came out of the restroom, then two or three families walked into the store. Well, through the constant interactions I had with a dad and his little girl, it became clear to me that they were the family I was supposed to pray for.

We prayed, in Mr. Colin’s fashion, right in the middle of Krispy Kreme, LOL! The beautiful thing was that my family had walked up as if this is what we do— being ready to pray with them. Well, it turns out they were wanting prayer for health. I believe it was their little girl’s health, whom they were in the process of adopting! So, I got to share a fragment of your story with them. (Chris and Ashley’s adoption of Liam). Then, we were able to bless them with the Waiting on God books. They were blown away and so grateful for the books!

It was so wild, Bro, and so cool, just having the chance to be a part of anything God does. I just felt like I needed to share this with Ya; LOL! It makes me excited! I’m going to copy and paste this to send to your dad because typing all this out twice would be tragic to my thumbs! 🤣

Then, there was Kids Camp and Ella’s baptism!

Baptism is a Family Affair

The following is what I texted Demarr and Karla after Church.

It was really wonderful having both Adaiah and Alani in Kids Church today because we also had Finn and Ella in our class. They were to be baptized. We talked to all 21 kids about the gift of a personal relationship with Jesus! I shared my testimony about how I knew ‘a bit’ about God, and though I’d been in church a lot, I had no idea about a personal relationship with Jesus.

Then, on August 29, 1980, while beginning a hitchhiking trip from Cape Town to Cairo, a young man named Ronnie Kockjeu picked me up. After a while, he asked: “Colin, do you know what it means to be saved?”

After sharing that, I asked the whole class if anyone felt uncertain about having a personal relationship with Jesus. Adaiah was very brave and raised her hand. She and I had a little prayer and SHARE during the break time on the playground, and I encouraged her to talk to you both. I also recommended reading John Chapter 3, which I discussed with the whole class, sharing the story of Nicodemus and Jesus.

Demarr’s Response:

This was a very Timely Way God did this: seeing you all this weekend and due to our meeting with you both for dinner on Wednesday to discuss church partnership.

That is truly incredible, Mr. Colin! Thank you so much for pouring into our children the way you do. We will absolutely be sure to follow up about her curious mind and follow up with the story of Nicodemus.  We talked about baptism with her on the way home and explained it to her. So, thank you for speaking the truth and leading them to Jesus!

Two Encouragements:

1: STEP into the PRAY NOW adventure with Jesus:  Every day, ask two people how you can pray for them.

2: WE THANK GOD for your faithfulness in praying and giving to IPA: Will you BE STILL for a minute, and then ask God if He would have you make a special gift right now?

Thank you for giving! God bless you and your growing prayer life, in Jesus’ name, amen!

😊 Chkk-Chirrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
