My Exciting Journey of Waiting on God, 6+ Years and Counting!
Thank you, dear God Waiters and the many of you who reached out with prayers, cards, and texts, all with deep love, as I shared about my Sweetheart’s health and my resultant depression in last month’s IGNITE issue. And this month, as I reflect on the awesome life journey of ‘Waiting on God’ over 6.5 years later, my heart remains full of gratitude to the Lord God and you, our precious Prayer Igniters!
Reflecting On The January 2019 IGNITE
Please pause and then slowly read and pray with me through this IGNITE as we look back. We’ll reflect on my great-x8 Grandfather‘s last words in 1799, which align with Andrew Murray’s “Waiting on God” writing in 1896.
When I was six months into reading the book each month, I shared this ever-deepening highway into experiencing His holiness and joy in and through my life. My experiences of waiting on God have been the verse of Psalms 27:14 at its core. Psalm 27:14 says, ~ “Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.”
A Generational Prayer Epiphany!
Several years ago, Vance Day, our friend and the COO of the relaunching Promise Keeper movement, stayed the weekend with us. He shared a love for researching and mapping out our family tree online. Fortunately, I had many photos and documents, including a 65-page printed memoir on the remarkable life of my great-X8 Grandfather, William Lepard!
William was born in 1700 and eventually transitioned to glory to meet Jesus in 1799! The notes below are excerpts taken from memoirs in which others described his life.
- But while he was thus pleasingly communicative and naturally disposed to make all around him happy
- He breathed love and gratitude.
- Also, it is in their recollection of what a devotional joy he often expressed himself.
Would you agree that these descriptions resemble a “Colin Millar type of lifestyle?” Today, when I read William’s last words for his family at age 99, just 6 hours before he met Jesus in glory, I still experience a prayer legacy epiphany that sends a crescendo in my heart, taking me back 226 years!
Let’s PRAY NOW:
“Oh, Father God, we praise You for the declaration to ‘wait upon the Lord,’ made by my Great-x8 Grandfather in 1799 at the age of 99. We thank You, God, for even more exponential growth in this new Waiting On God movement via Audiobook. Even in 2025, let the words of Andrew Murray’s life-transformational, 31-day adventure into God’s heart ignite every reader’s life!
We praise You, God, for this multilingual work now republished by Igniting Prayer Action, fueling movements of God Waiters in seven languages and multiple nations across the globe. Lord, anoint every reader and believer to accept Andrew Murray’s charge that we have no more solemn duty than to teach people to wait on God and spend more time with You daily! We pray in the matchless marvelous name of Jesus Christ, amen.”
