WAITING ON GOD BRINGS UNLOOKED FOR FAVOR

Ignite Bold Prayers

What can happen when we pray, “Lord, would You ignite something in our lives and in Your Church that only YOU can get the credit for?” This is the prayer that Christopher and Ashley and God’s newly planted church, The Well, in San Marcos have been praying. Christopher has been preaching a series on Philippians 4 about God supplying ALL our needs according to HIS riches in glory by Christ Jesus. He makes all things new, and He is surely doing a “new thing” in this city and in our nation in the midst of darkness and fear. It is time for His glorious Church to “Arise and Shine for His Light has come…!” (Isaiah 60).

New Things

The congregation of The Well has just gathered for its third Sunday service at the Greater Bethel Baptist Church, and we got to be there at the second! I want to share with you this remarkable story, because it is another Waiting on God testimony! We deeply appreciate that many of you have been praying for Christopher and Ashley and God’s plan for San Marcos.

During Covid, the Lord had provided a park and pavilion for them to meet, and it has been a great blessing until the park recently closed. During this time, Christopher had been deeply impacted by the death of George Floyd and all that is happening racially in our country. As a pastor and leader, he is committed to a James 1:19 mindset, which says: “Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.”

He has been asking the Lord how to truly ignite, hear, and build bridges.

In turn, he’s believing God for a result in the oneness Jesus spoke of in His John 17 prayer. Four weeks ago, he made plans to stop by a few churches that he knew were predominantly African American. He was ultimately trusting the Lord to connect him with brothers and sisters that he could pray with and begin to build relationship with in the city.

He landed at the Greater Bethel Baptist Church (founded in 1884).

In addition, he had the delight of meeting a committed servant leader in the church who connected Christopher to Pastor Derrick Benn. It’s so like the Lord to ensure that:

  • Both studied saxophone at Texas colleges
  • They both were pastors
  • And both love Jesus passionately
  • They have much in common!

During their wonderful first meeting and prayer together, Christopher asked for prayer about where The Well would be able to gather in the future. Pastor Benn immediately invited, “Why don’t you meet here? Our congregation will be meeting online for a few more months.” So, this beautiful relationship began, and The Well has now gathered 3 Sundays at Greater Bethel.

They are thrilled and there are plans for Christopher and Derrick to minister in each other’s churches. Wow! Can you continue to pray with us for God’s plans in San Marcos now and in the days ahead? It touched my heart that on the first Sunday, Pastor Derrick arrived very early before 7 am. He came before anyone arrived to begin setting up and he wanted to ensure it was clean and ready for greeting the team. In the end, that is what having a Kingdom advancing heart of unity and love is like!

He waits to be gracious to His people, as they wait upon Him.
(Isaiah 30:18)

Only God can do these things as we wait upon Him! My Sweetie and I have been thinking about His remarkable orchestrations. This moment was in His heart even as He was leading my great (x8) grandfather William Lepard in his final exhortation to those who would follow after him, “Wait on the Lord, let your heart take courage, and He shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord.” (Psalm 27:14) Those words were penned 221 years ago, compiled into a manuscript that we have in our possession today.

This moment was in His heart 123 years ago as He led Andrew Murray to write the daily meditations of Waiting on God, which would have such deep impact in our lives today. And this moment was in His heart 136 years ago as He led the group of passionate African American believers in San Marcos, Texas to begin a Church that would still be thriving today. Their aim is to ignite and reconcile people to God and unite generations as family. Pastor Christopher, Pastor Derrick, their congregations, and the communities in the region of San Marcos were in His heart from before the foundations of the world. In addition, there is God’s relentless love to seek and save the lost and bring them to eternal relationship.

“Lord we praise You, we wait upon You, we love You and we choose YES to Your plans.”

The Call to ignite and form a Company of 120 Intercessors for WAITING ON GOD

There is a call from the Lord to spread the practice, art, and discipline of the Waiting on God principles far and wide amongst believers. Are you one the Lord is raising up as His intercessor of faith? Are you committed to contending for the advancement of His Kingdom for such a time as this? (Esther 4:14)

Let us PRAY NOW: “Lord, if You are asking me to be a part of this Company of 120, give me Your peace to email Colin for the invitation.”

Waiting on God is like a large brilliant diamond with 31 facets in the crown of the King. When you invest time in each day of this adventure, the following will happen. “God will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden wealth of secret places so that you may know that it is I, The Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name.” (Isaiah 45:3)
