IGNITE April 2023

“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you: I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water”Psalm 63:1

“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.”Psalm 42:1

Are you feeling parched, tired, worn out, or drained of energy? You’re not alone. As I write this, I’ve found myself in a place of much-needed rest for the past several weeks— due to over-committing my time and energy well beyond my physical, spiritual, and emotional limits. I’ll admit to dealing with a severe case of over-exhaustion and a debilitating asthmatic bronchial cough. And this isn’t the first time!

God Does MORE Through Us When We Rest

Through my precious bride, Nancy, and close prayer-filled advisors, the LORD reminded me of a very similar place I was in five years ago.

God doesn't want us parched

“Parched”

Please click the image link above and read what God did through a time of “DOING” less and “BEING” more.

As Christ-followers, we’d be naive to believe that we will always have it all together, have all the energy we need, and can keep going. Believing this is foolishness. In holy, healthy transparency, I find myself once again intensely waiting on God and asking Him: “Lord God, am I living and working in the rhythm of Your rest?” If you can relate, I invite you to do the same.

Eagerly anticipating the rest He’ll give in the coming weeks, I am so grateful for what the Lord did five years ago when He gave me a listening heart to learn essential lessons! So, as you click the image below for details on this story, I pray that He’ll do it again in whatever way He sees fit.

A God Sabbatical provides rest and refreshment.

“Refreshed”

Why am I sharing all this?

  1. Prayer. I’m asking you to pray for me. Leaders can’t lead on empty. Like the deer, Living Water is needed to survive and thrive.
  2. Encouragement. I strongly suspect either you or someone you know may find themselves in a similar place of needing deep rest. My prayer is that, in the Wisdom of God, something I’m sharing here offers you encouragement to be refreshed in Him.
  3. Invitation. Just as I personally recognize the need to “pause” to reflect and be refreshed, IPA is being entrusted with an opportunity to strategically pause, assess, and be refined by the Lord to ensure we serve with excellence in all we do. I’ll share more in the coming months; but for now, I invite you to pray for God to instill the right questions and pursue the right answers as we ignite prayer into our hearts and lives more than ever before.

Finally, BE encouraged to take time to BE with God, your spouse, your family, and your friends. And always BE a blessing to others as you are to us!

Chkk-Chirrrrrrrrrrrrrr,

Colin
