A good number of years ago, my precious bride and I were sitting in a tall-backed booth in a café in Schulenburg, Texas. We hadn’t been there more than five minutes when this woman’s head peered around from the seat behind us and said, “Did you used to co-host a radio program on KAFR called “Prayer on The Air?” She knew my voice and shared how they so loved the program, “prayer on the air,” that it became a weekly part of her homeschooling curriculum with her children. Then she said, “Please, could I introduce you to my children?” It was a very sweet and wonderful time.

What a journey of faith, hope, and love! Waiting on God is not a concept; it’s a movement of God-waiters, to which I have the humble joy of belonging. It began on a helpless, hopeless morning. The congregation I pastor and other ministries I so lovingly serve were at the end of their proverbial rope.
I was led by the Holy Spirit to finally use the Waiting on God journal that my friend, Colin Millar, had introduced me to more than once. In fact, he had given me two books in the past, and quite frankly, I was too busy to wait. Upon my journey of investing time and reading Brother Andrew Murray’s devotional material, I began to weep as I read the compelling words of Waiting on God. Then, I invited my congregation and other ministries to join me on this 31-day adventure into the heart of God.
On January 3, 2022, we began a daily waiting on God, live Zoom experience from 6-7 am.
At times, 60 to 70 people from five or six nations joined us! And this movement continues today, some 935 days later without missing a single day.
We open in prayer, read that day’s meditation, wait in silence for 15 minutes, share a music worship experience corporately, and then pray or share testimonies as the Lord leads us.
We continually see lives transformed, families reunited, relationships restored, salvations, and healing miracles taking place. When we began our waiting on God journey, my wife and I were in the middle of a huge transition. We had sold our home in Kingwood, Texas, and had been waiting for our new home to close in Livingston. We’d been in transitional housing for four months at that time, living in a basement apartment. We were exhausted and still unsure of what the future looked like. I put on a considerable amount of weight. I was not sleeping well, and my body hurt at night. Also, I had no energy and felt as if I was at a dead end with my health, my ministry, and my life’s purpose.
When I heard about waiting on God, I had been a man of Prayer for 40 years. What was this all about? I had a lot of doubts and questions.
Then, I began to wait on God. I started my church waiting. And although I cannot explain it, my life took off. The house closed, and we moved in; then, I began a new way of eating and lost 55 pounds. We started a school of leadership development that drew in 44 paying students with the desire to lead in the business world, in the political realm, and in ministry.
The church grew!
We’ve gone from one to two services and are working on planting a church about 45 minutes from our own as we prepare for more growth and expansion. We have given thousands of dollars to missions around the world, and are currently building two churches— one in northern India and the other in South Africa.
All glory to God; all of this has been in THE WAITING and not in our activity. We’ve consistently been part of Waiting on God’s daily, live Zoom experience, often facilitating two or three times a week.
